Avril Lavigne Tattoos | Tattoos Of Avril Lavigne

Avril Lavigne has many tattoos, though all of them are small. All of her tattoos are done impulsively. She told Inked Magazine: “Everything is always spur-of-the-moment. All of my tattoos I decide that second and do it,” but also added that she would like a larger tattoo at some point in the future with proper planning. “I want to get a big-ass-motherfucking tattoo on my forearm. I’m going to wait a few years and make sure I still want it then. I have to wait for that special someone to come back into my life. I want to do a big-ass heart with a flag through it with a name. I want it to be a huge experience and statement.”

Avril has gotten most of her tattoos as matching tattoos with friends. She has two matching tattoos with ex-husband Deryck Whibley, lead singer of Canadian pop-punk band Sum 41, and four with current boyfriend Brody Jenner.

Her first tattoo was a star on the inside of her left wrist in the style of her Let Go album artwork.  Evanescence guitarist Ben Moody, with whom she co-wrote the song “Nobody’s Home,” also got the same star on her wrist.

On the side of her left wrist, Avril got her ex-husband Deryck Whibley’s first initial “D” in a pink heart, while Deryck got an “A” in heart in the same location for Avril. Though Avril and Deryck are now divorced, they remain good friends and Avril has not covered the tattoo. She later added a music note beneath it.

In March 2010, Arvil celebrated Deryck Whibley’s 30th birthday with him, and the two got “30″ tattooed on their wrist together, even though they had already filed for divorce. She had a lightning bolt tattooed right below it in April 2010 with current boyfriend Brody Jenner, who got a matching tattoo behind her ear.

On the inside of her right elbow, Avril Lavigne has a star and “XXV” which are the Roman numerals for 25.  The star was first blue with a black outline, but she later had it filled in black. She had it first done in April 2008 while her friend Allie got a tattoo at the same time. She got the XXV tattoo at the age of 25, and boyfriend Brody Jenner has a matching tattoo in the same location.

On the inside of her left elbow, Avril has the words “Abbey Dawn” which is a nickname that her father gave her as a child (as well as the name of her clothing line).

On the right side of her ribcage, Avril has “Brody” for boyfriend Brody Jenner. Avril and Brody both had their names tattooed on each other in July 2010 – he has “Avril” on her elbow.

In May 2010, Avril and Brody got matching “FUCK” tattoos on their ribcages. Avril says: “My favorite tattoo is this one. It’s my favorite word!”

On her left hip, Avril has the outlines of two stars. Avril has a few different star tattoos, but this one is the largest.

Avril has a very tiny star on her right shoulder blade.

Avril has a small blue star outlined in black on her left leg.

In March 2011 Avril had a safety pin tattooed on the left side of her neck. It’s not known exactly what the significance of the safety pin is, but she tweeted: “It comes in handy all the time, it can hurt you, but at the same time keep you together, safety first!”

Audrina Patridge Tattoos | Tattoos of Audrina Patridge

A tattoo today is a style statement. It has become the fashion to get yourself inked to mark a significant event in your life, to pay a tribute to someone or something that is important to you, to reflect traits of your personality that you most identify with or to showcase your beliefs. Angelina Jolie, Megan Fox and Johnny Depp are some of the noted celebs whose tattoos are as famous as they are. Reality star Audrina Patridge’s tattoos join those echelons of expression as even her tattoos are discussed more than her work on blogs across the world.

Many fans are inspired by them and constantly trawl web pages to find a clear enough image of her tattoos so they can get themselves inked the same way. Audrina gave us a view of the famous tattoo on her neck as she hosted Epic Saturdays at The Pool After Dark at Harrah’s Resort in Atlantic City, New Jersey on March 24.

When you first look at Audrina’s tattoo, it appears to be a snake wrapping itself around an apple. A closer look reveals that the apple is actually a hybrid of the fruit and a heart with four chambers. This is a unique design which has garnered interest from both tattoo fans and tattoo artists around the world.

The tattoo employs vibrant colors that pop and the size is large enough to draw attention to it. It leaves a vivid image in your mind and you won’t be forgetting how it looks for awhile. Perhaps that is why her neck tattoo is more popular than her other tattoos. Her sister has the same one. The positioning of the tattoo is quite smart as she can simply leave her hair down to hide it when it does not complement her outfit.
Like all art, tattoos too are open to interpretation. The same symbols and images will have varied meanings in different parts of the world. Sometimes, an image can have multiple meanings in the very same culture.
The apple and snake seem to be quite obvious references to the Bible’s Adam and Eve story with the apple standing for temptation and the snake a depiction of the serpent in the garden of Eden who lured Eve to take a bite of the apple which caused God to ban Adam and Eve from Paradise.
But the heart which is a part of the apple is a tougher nut to crack.
When talking about her tattoo, Audrina only touched up on the serpent, saying that in many ancient cultures the snake represented both Gods and demons. She did not elaborate further so we’re left to come to our own conclusions.
We think the apple and heart combined indicate desire, maybe for life or things or knowledge or all of these. The serpent – since she specified that it stood for both good and bad – may be symbolic of how we as human beings harbor both good and evil within ourselves. Our desires and our conscience usually dictate our actions, which is why even seemingly good people make bad choices and why bad people often do surprisingly good things. Audrina’s tatoo seems to be an accurate, honest representation of humanity.

Anthony Kiedis Tattoos

Anthony Kiedis has 10 (visible) tattoos:

1. Bird on back
2. An Indian chief at the top of each arm
3. A band on each arm
4. A dagger on each arm.
5. A tiger on the inside of his right arm
6. A koi carp (and flower) on the inside of his left arm.
7. The Chili asterisk/star of infinity.

The majority of Anthony’s tattoos are in black ink although the two inner arm ones are coloured; his tattoos are symmetrical in layout with balanced, but not completely identical, designs on either arm. Many of the designs reflect aspects of his life most noticeably his North American heritage (on his maternal side). Several of his tattoos were drawn by, Henky Penky (real name Henk Schiffmacher), a tattooist based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, who is famous for his work on rock n’ roll icons.

There are various online interpretations as to the origin of the design. The most common views are that it is of an Inca/Aztec falcon but some people claim it is a Haida thunder bird. Hank Schiffmacher began work on the tattoo in February 1988 while the Peppers where in Amsterdam on tour; it was completed over a course of 18 months when Anthony happened to be in the city.

“On our visits to Amsterdam, I had befriended an amazing tattoo artist named Hank Schiffmacher. Hank, also known as Henky Penky, was an icon of his country-an underground philosopher, artist, Hell’s Angel associate, booze hound, drug hound, girl hound, an absolute rapscallion of Dutch proportions. Over the years, Hank had injected much ink into my skin, and in the process, we’d become close.”

“On that first trip to Holland (around the Pink Pop Festival dates in Finland), however, Kiedis was preparing to endure the fist pricks of the enormous cubic Indian totem image that would eventually engulf his back. Schiffmacher told him it would be the work of many visits, each one time-consuming (up to six hours at a time) and also very painful. Kiedis replied, jokingly, that given his own schedule, it would also take several years.”

“A tiger, added in 2001, was to help him get over the pain of creaking up with his girlfriend, and represents both his Chinese birth sign and the Thai tradition of tigers bringing longevity and protection to the wearer- and he enjoys adding the detail that he is Tony the Tiger, the cartoon cat from the Kellogg’s Frosties add.”

Angelina Jolie Tattoos

Ever wonder the meanings of Angelina Jolie's Tattoos. This article will unravel the meanings and provide insights to her numerous body arts.

Angelina Jolie is a famous American actress and has been cited in many celebrity news, magazines and websites as one of the world's "most beautiful woman" as well as the most "attractive" movie stars. She is best known for her lead roles in films such as "Lara Croft: Tomb Raider", "Hackers", "Mr. & Mrs. Smith", "Girl, Interrupted", "Wanted", "Changeling" and her voice work in "Kung Fu Panda".

Another aspect of her stardom that has garnered her great attention, both by her fans and the media, is her affinity to tattoos. Angelina Jolie tattoos are reflection of her persona, sensuality and emotional connections to her everyday life. Because of these, her collection of body arts are ever changing and evolving with new ones added to remind her of things she cares the most, while some being inked over or removed completely when they no longer holds true to her.

Angelina Jolie's first Tattoo: Death
Angelina Jolie inked her first tattoo at a very young age. Her first tattoo was a Japanese kanji for the word "Death" and inscribed on her left back shoulder. It served as a reminder to her to live life to the fullest. She has since covered it up with an ancient Khmer script when she adopted her son, Maddox.
The Blue Tongue Dragon is the first dragon tattoo Angelina Jolie inked on her body which she got while intoxicated in Amsterdam. She regretted doing it and has since covered it with a black Latin Cross tattoo.

Next to the Latin Cross is a phrase in Latin:

"Quod me nutrit me destruit"
Which means
"What nourishes me, destroys me."
According to her, she had the Latin Cross tattoo done the day before she married, her then husband, Jonny Lee Miller (her co-star in the movie "Hackers") in 1995. She said the intention of the tattoo "was all symbolic, and it was a good thing, nothing dark."

The tattoo on Angelina Jolie's inner left arm is a quotation from Tennessee Williams:

"A prayer for the wild at heart, kept in cages."

She had this tattoo done in the presence of her mother, Marcheline Bertrand. So what does the quotation means to her? In Angelina's own words:
"I don't think I know one person who I think can be completely who they are, every second of the day, who feels completely free...So it's kind of a prayer for everybody to find their happiness, to break out...Anything that makes us comfortable, those things are cages around us."

At Angelina Jolie's lower back, she had three tattoos done: a tribal, a blue window and a tribal dragon.

The 'tribal' design was done at the same period when she did the Kanji "Death" tattoo. It is unclear as to the meaning of the 'tribal' tattoo, other than the possibility of it being an 'in' design when she had it inked.

At the centre of her lower back is a 'tribal dragon' but now is partially covered by the Bengal Tiger tattoo.

The 'window tattoo' refers to her once held view on life: "Wherever I am, I find myself looking out of the window, wishing I was somewhere else."
The window has since been covered up by the tail of the Bengal Tiger. She had the window covered because she no longer subscribed to that view and she felt that she is "where she wants to be right now".

Besides the Khmer script tattoo, the other prominent tattoo on Angelina's back is the Bengal Tiger tattoo. The tattoo spreads 30 centimeters long and 20 centimeters wide and was commissioned to commemorate her Cambodian citizenship.

According to press report, it took Sompong Kanphai, the tattoo artist, 2 hours to complete the design which was done in Bangkok in 2004. It took two hours to complete the tattoo because Angelina opted for a traditional Thai tattooing style. Purely by hand, the tattoo artist maneuvered a long needle that glides inside a hollow tube, delicately inking the skin manually. While tattooing, the tattoo artist chanted ancient Buddhist hymn to bless the tattoo.

On Angelina's left shoulder blade, she had a tattoo done based on a Buddhist Pali prayer written in Khmer script, the language of Cambodia where her son Maddox was born. She had the tattoo done to 'spiritually' blessed her and Maddox; and to protect them from bad luck.

Here's the translation:
May your enemies run far away from you
If you acquire riches, may they remain yours always
Your beauty will be that of Apsara
Wherever you may go, many will attend, serve and protect you, surrounding you on all sides

The tattoo was done by Sompong Kanphai in in a hotel in Pathum Thani, Thailand, the same tattoo artist who did the 'Bengal Tiger Tattoo"

Know Your Rights
This gothic letter tattoo "Know Your Rights" sits between her shoulder blades and the phrase is taken from the title of a song of her favorite band "Clash". According to Angelina, it is a slogan of empowerment which she described as "humanitarian, but a little punk rock".

Inside her right forearm is an Arabic script tattoo which means "Strength of Will". However some say it means "Determination". But what ever it means, Angelina's interpretation of the tattoo was revealed by her in an interview in a US television whilst promoting her film "Wanted". She said: "I have 'strength of will' in one language, and we added it in four other languages on my arm."

The Arabic tattoo is a cover up of the abstract tattoo she had together with her ex husband Billy Bob Thornton.

On Angelina Jolie's inside left wrist is a rune style tattoo of the letter 'H'. According to sources, it is to remind her of her brother, James Haven whereas some say it is to signify her ex-boyfriend Timothy Hutton. Knowing Angelina's disposition to laser off any reminders of her past relationships, the former meaning is more plausible.

Angelina Jolie Intimate Heart Shape Tattoo for Brad Pitt
Finally...

Well, we don't have to wait long, Angelina Jolie has finally inked an intimate heart shape tattoo on her inner thigh for Brad Pitt. In an interview with MTV, when asked about the tattoo, Angelina confessed: "Um, it's for Brad" At the time of the interview with MTV, she refused to reveal further the design of the heart shape tattoo. But not to worry, as she herself admitted, "I'm bad at hiding secrets". It won't be long before the whole world will know and this article will be the first to publish it. I guess the race is on for the first paparazzi to snap a shot of the tattoo.

For those who participate in the poll, thank you for joining in the fun. You guys and gals are right!

XIII and V MCMXL
Angelina at first had XIII (the Roman numeral for 13) tattooed on her left forearm because she doesn't believe in superstitions.

Later she added the Roman Numeral V MCMXL, which signifies the date (May 13, 1940) when Winston Churchill uttered the famous words when he took office: "I have nothing to offer but blood, toil, tears and sweat".
